What is Aikido?
Aikido is a Japanese martial art that emphasizes harmony, balance, and the redirection of an opponent’s energy rather than meeting force with force. It focuses on circular movements, joint locks, and throws to neutralize attacks in a controlled and non-aggressive way. Unlike competitive martial arts, Aikido is practiced as a cooperative discipline, aiming to develop physical coordination, mental clarity, and self-defense skills without causing harm. Training often includes empty-hand techniques and the use of traditional wooden weapons such as the bokken (sword), jo (staff), and tanto (knife), which help practitioners understand distance, timing, and fluid motion.

Our Classes
Hands-on aikido training for all ages and skill levels.

Adult Aikido classes focus on developing fluid movement, balance, and mental discipline through non-competitive practice. Participants learn joint locks, throws, and defensive techniques designed to redirect energy rather than rely on brute strength.
Students will learn the basics of the bokken (wooden sword), the jo (wooden staff), and tonto (wooden knife). This includes katas (form practice) and kumitachi (partner practice).
Kids Aikido classes provide a safe and structured environment for learning discipline, balance, and self-defense skills.
